Save strokes with a more forgiving club!
I bought a stiff shaft D9 5W from Golf Galaxy with the intent to put something more forgiving in my bag for those par 5 second shots and technical par 4s. Not only is the 5W much easier to get down the fairway consistently than my old 3W, the D9 itself is a fantastically forgiving club. The ball can hit anywhere on the face of this thing, and it will launch it into the air. It makes a very satisfying "plink" sound on good contact, and ball absolutely explodes off the face. You can't beat the performance for the price, and for anyone who wants to exercise some course management and make smart shots, the D9 fairway is a great tool to have in your bag. I gave up just a bit of distance going from a 3W to a 5W, but I am much more consistently getting it down the fairway. And that adds up to a lot of strokes!
